Set of Eight Louis XVI Style Lacquer Painted Dining Chairs

$3,800.00

Midcentury set of eight dining chairs made in the grand French Louis XVI taste. The set consists of six side chairs and two host armchairs measuring 25 inches wide. The frames feature a balloon back or cameo back with a molded frame. The lacquer painted finish has an intentionally aged, distressed patina to mimic age with fine craquelure on the lacquer in a cream color. The armchairs have padded arms measuring 27.5 inches high. The seats have decorative carved neoclassical style rosettes on the corners and are supported by fluted, tapered legs. The chairs are upholstered with a pink silk brocade fabric having a Fortuny style floral pattern. The fabric while being vintage still shows well and has a gilt trim border. From an estate in Napa, CA. Solid and sturdy with excellent joinery and craftsmanship.
