Imposing Japanese Showa period two panel byobu screen later mounted in a large gilt and ebonized wood frame. The screen depicts a pair of large redheaded Manchurian cranes flying amid the stylized pine trees and clouds. Ink and natural color pigments painted on silk with a green silk brocade border. The thick frame has a gold leaf border with a lovely aged patina on the gilt. The painting is signed by the artist Eikyo with a seal. The screen site alone without frame measures 58.5 inches wide by 46 inches high. From an estate in Atherton, CA. Very impressive Size and scale.

Condition: Good, minor wear consistent with age and use. Beautifully crafted and mounted with age appropriate wear. Very minor loss on painting upper right corner as seen in photo. Minor scuffs and scratches on frame as expected.
