Set of Four Baker “Governor Alston” Cane Ebonized Dining Chairs
$6,800.00
An elegant and rare set of four Baker “Governor Alston” chairs from the Historic Charleston Collection. Constructed of cane and hardwood, the chairs are finished in a dramatic ebonized black lacquer with contrasting crisp parcel gilt accents. The klismos inspired design is distinguished by the backrests interlocking ring motif, turned crest rail, and parcel gilt-outlined back tablet. The seats are fitted with tight woven cane panels in a dark lacquered finish, providing a sophisticated textural material and adding an airy element to the chairs. The legs are slender and slightly tapered with gilded and ringed collar elements. The chairs are from Baker Furniture’s Historic Charleston collection, a renowned line of high-quality benchmade reproductions inspired by 18th and 19th-century designs from Charleston, South Carolina. The chairs blend Regency and Neoclassical styles to create a silhouette suitable for a variety of interiors. Baker Furniture maker's tag and historical plaque underneath chairs.
