Iconic large Roche Bobois Mah Jong modular 27 piece sectional sofa designed in the mid 20th century by Hans Hopfer (German b. 1931). The dramatic 21st century sofa features Kenzo Takada (Japanese 1939-2020) and Missoni fabrics circa 2010. Designed in France and hand-made in Italy the set consists of 27 elements or pieces offering infinite design possibilities in a chic mosaic of color, tapestry, texture, and design. The sofa set includes 18 square seat cushions measuring 39 x 39 inches, 7 back support cushions (three with adjustable tops), and 2 corner pillow cushions. Each cushion is entirely constructed and sewn by hand in a dedicated workshop. This set includes some of the more rare fabrics in unique patterns and textures. Dressed in exclusive fabrics designed and manufactured for Roche Bobois by Kenzo and Missoni with labels. The beautiful patterns on the Takada fabrics were inspired by Japanese kimonos used in the Noh theater. The sofa is in very good condition given age and use with vibrant colors and soft fabric material. Cushion pillows signed on the interior with labels. Measurements taken as seen in photo #1. Condition: Good, some wear consistent with age and use. Beautifully crafted in well-preserved condition with age appropriate wear as seen in photos. Very minor fading with some light stains which are difficult to see. Minor old repairs to fabric and buttons as expected. No rips, tears, or losses.
