A handsome Italian "Aran Isles” club or lounge chair upholstered in supple aniline leather and corduroy cushions designed in the traditional English Equestrian Country style by Ralph Lauren. The chair features a large hardwood frame with English rolled arms, a framed leather back with patinated brass tack nailhead trim, a brass tack nailhead trimmed apron, and carved bun front feet. The chair is finished in warm cognac-toned soft aniline leather, and the seat is fitted with contrasting olive green corduroy seat cushions. The leather has developed a handsome aged patina over time, complementing the deep tonal texture of the corduroy cushions. Constructed in Italy and designed as part of Ralph Lauren's Aran Isles Collection, distinguished by the collection's blending of wood and leather. The chair retains the original Ralph Lauren maker's tag under the seat and original order tag on the bottom of the chair. The chair was individually bench made in Italy with a tightly padded fit and finish and then completed in the U.S. by Theodore Alexander. This chair frame employs an eight-way hand-tied construction. Each coil is expertly tied by hand in eight different directions, affording superior flexibility, support, and comfort. The design is reminiscent of sculptural Art Deco period club chairs made on a large scale with a distinctive profile. The frame is sturdy and strong having excellent joinery and craftsmanship. The arms of the chair measure 24.5" tall.
