Japanese Style Showa Six Panel Screen Chinese Gilt Mountain Landscape


Impressive Japanese style Showa period six-panel byobu screen featuring a serene Chinese mountain landscape along a waterway over a dramatic gilt background. The painting is accompanied by a long poetic colophon in Chinese signed by the calligrapher. Ink pigments on gilt paper and set in a black lacquered frame. The large painting shows well with intricate details. The work is possibly Korean made during the Japanese occupation from 1910-1945. From an estate in Beverly Hills, CA.

Condition: Good, minor wear consistent with age and use. Beautifully crafted with age appropriate wear. Some panel separation and paper lifting, but shows well as seen in photos. Large paper losses on reverse side.
