French Louis Philippe Marble Top Commode with Secretary


Exceptional late 19th century French Louis Philippe mahogany commode or chest of drawers featuring a drop front secretaire. The case has a fitted white Italian Carrara marble top with clipped corners and conforming trim. The top drawer has a fall front drawer that opens to a Napoleon green leather topped writing surface that extends out 12 inches. The drawer is fitted with smaller storage drawers flanking a pigeon hole opening. Below the secretary are three storage drawers with brass swag pulls. Excellent joinery and craftsmanship with an aged patina on the finishes. French cabinet makers stamp from Paris is visible on the back of the chest. Versatile chest with a distinctive profile and beautifully veined marble top.
