A substantial 20th century Country French Provincial farmhouse trestle dining table or monastery table measuring over 7 feet long. The table features an impressive 2.25" inch thick plank top with dramatic burl figuring and visible tenon joinery crafted in richly grained solid oak displaying the aged character of the table.
The large base is constructed with a pair of spade form trestle supports, each with gracefully curved sides and sitting atop large shoe feet. The legs are conjoined by a long central stretcher secured with hand-cut exposed mortise and tenon joinery. The oak has been worn over time into a soft, honeyed amber tone having a rich, waxed finish. The table blends French Provincial, Rustic, Country, and Monastery/Refectory styles, making it suitable for a variety of spaces. The leg clearance measures 27" from the floor to apron.
