Monumental Chinese export twelve-panel red lacquered Coromandel screen of Chinese mythological Daoist character Xiwangmu (Queen mother of the West). Remarkable large scale screen full of vibrant color on incised lacquer panels. The scene depicts an entourage of mythical figures and beasts in caravan. Beautifully detailed robes, carpets, and flags with mountain landscapes. Each panel has a signed gilt dragon circle on bottom. The reverse side features a stark bamboo garden. Supported by small brass clad feet. From an estate in San Francisco, CA.
