Impressive Chinese export late Qing dynasty four-panel folding Coromandel screen featuring carved soapstone. The ebony lacquered panels are decorated with colorful carved scholars objects, vases, and flowers. The panels have recessed windows bordered with subtle parcel gilt vine scroll motifs that have a faded patina. The carved objects are beautifully crafted with intricate details and overlay. Each panel has a notch on each side between the top and bottom windows. Supported by shaped legs on bottom ending with brass clad feet. The reverse side is sparsely decorated with gilt orbs. The screen has a lovely aged patina with character and charm. From an estate in Bel Air, CA. The screen measures 5 inches deep folded and 16 inches wide.
