A sculptural hourglass-form pedestal stand painstakingly crafted out of tessellated stone with an elegant inset brass trim attributed to Maitland Smith. The piece features a distinct silhouette with a dramatically hourglass waisted column having a square top and base, each measuring 9" wide and deep. The surface is constructed from book-matched tiles of polished cream-tone tessellated stone panels, likely limestone, each with unique veining and toning, giving each section a different natural patterning. The pedestal is accented by inset brass stripes tracing the curves of each side and framing the top surface. The piece is crafted in the manner and style of Karl Springer and Enrique Garcel.
