Monumental Southeast Asian Bronze Frog or Rain Drum Table 3 Ft
$9,800.00
A monumental and beautifully patinated cast bronze frog or rain drum table from Southeast Asia measuring an astonishing 3 feet wide. The heavy piece features a massive circular top decorated with engraved concentric rings having a geometric tribal banding and a central twelve-point starburst medallion. The large top sits above a tapering, drum or hourglass-form body articulated with horizontal registers of incised geometric banding and subtle leaf and stem accents rising from the base. The silhouette is completed by sculptural ring handles, small protruding frog and elephant accents, along with small stacked frog sets around the top rim border. The bronze has an attractive aged and oxidized dark verdigris patina. Typically from east Burma or Myanmar, the piece is functionally versatile, well-suited for use as a side table, drinks table, dining table, stool, pedestal, or decorative accent piece. The surface of the top measures 28" tall and could also serve as a small garden dining table. The drum has a very impressive scale and profile with a desirable patinated finish on the bronze.
