Spectacular hand-carved library armchair or throne chair crafted in the 18th century Italian Rococo taste by Hendrix Allardyce, Hollywood, CA. The chair features a large beech frame decorated with large scrolls, shell rocaille, and acanthus. The finish is intentionally distressed to mimic age with faint remnants of gilt and old lacquer leaving a desirable soft patina. The generous seat is upholstered with a muslin lining that is bordered by delicate, fancy gimp trim in a gilt tone. Amazing craftsmanship by California artisans. Provenance: From the estate of Stuart Moldaw, Atherton, CA.
