19th Century French Napoleon III Leather Reclining Armchair

$5,800.00

Fantastic 19th century French Napoleon III period leather reclining armchair or lounge chair. Features a mahogany frame covered with rich, distressed dark leather. The leather surfaces have brass tack nail head borders and thick padding. Functioning reclining mechanisms with thick ebonized metal hardware and leather strapping give the chair a very masculine look. The thick armrests curl forward reminiscent of old boxing gloves. There is an adjustable, oversized headrest supported by a campaign style base with turned legs and stretchers ending with casters. Also known as an invalid chair. This is an interesting, rare piece of French history. From an estate in Hollywood, CA.
