Pair of Regency Style Chinoiserie Decorated Demilune Consoles
$3,800.00
A refined pair of black and gilt decorated demi-lune console tables in the Regency taste with Chinoiserie influence. Each table is comprised of a demilune top over a shaped apron decorated with hand-painted gilt and scrolling motifs in the Asian aesthetic. The dramatic Japanned finish is intentionally weathered with light distressing to mimic age. The decoration is framed by gilt borders and accented by lattice-form reserves, all raised on elegant tapered squared legs with parcel-gilt detailing and gilt cuffs near the bottoms. The restrained tops are decorated with simple gilt line-work, while the aprons feature more elaborate gilt-work of florals and scrolling accents. The ebonized lacquer ground is warmed by antiqued gold ornaments. The versatile tables blend Regency with Chinoiserie influence and are able to be used individually as demi-lune consoles or together as a circular center table with a 30" diameter. Sold as a pair of consoles. From an estate in Bel Air, CA.
