Organic Modern Pencil Reed Rattan Waterfall Console Table

A striking 1970s midcentury pencil reed rattan console table, constructed in the Organic Modern and Tropical styles after Gabriella Crespi, McGuire, and Bielecky Bros. The sofa table features a sculptural waterfall form and a richly patterned geometric top. The console is constructed with a wood frame clad in rounded reed rattan lacquered in a rich and warm honey-gold highlighting the natural variations and tones of the rattan. The rectangular top is composed of individually laid reed sections arranged in a sophisticated geometric pattern of chevrons, triangles, diamonds, and radiating directional panels. The alternating reed orientation creates a deep and dynamic surface with geometric movement. The design continues across the apron and the waterfall leg support to create a uniform and consistent profile. The console stands on four angled end supports, softening the linear form. The console presents a unique blend of Organic Modern, Palm Beach Regency, Tropical, California Coastal, and Bohemian styles, and is functional as a entry or hall console, sofa table, or accent table. The joinery is sturdy with solid construction and a desirable aged patina on the rattan finish as seen in photos.
