Impressive Japanese style Showa period four-panel byobu screen depicting two pheasants perched on a withered flowering prunus tree. The painting has a dramatic gilt background with golden clouds. The birds and tree are painted in a metallic thick moriage style (raised pigment) that stands out from the ground. Ink and color pigments over a gilt paper gold leaf style background. The painting is set in a black lacquered frame with a silk brocade border. From an estate in San Francisco, CA.
