A dramatic six-panel decorative Chinese Export Coromandel screen featuring a warm, luminous reflective gold-leaf ground and a continuous garden landscape scene of flora and fauna extending across all panels. The screen measures over 8 feet wide and presents a continuous spring landscape composition across six hinged panels. The colorful scene depicting flowering branches, peonies, magnolia blossoms, birds in flight, perched exotic birds, stylized scholar’s rocks, and flowering shrubs. The gold ground has a beautifully aged, variegated surface with a warm reflective quality and tonal changes from hand-crafted construction and age. The black lacquer border is decorated with repeated gilt scrollwork and stylized bird-form motifs. The lacquer is incised and hand-painted with bright tones of teal, crimson, earthy brown, cream, and green on a gold leaf ground. The screen works beautifully as a room divider, statement accent piece, or against a wall as a backdrop. Each panel measures 16" wide for a total width of approximately 8 feet.
