Faded Chinese export narrative tale coromandel screen with four lacquered panels. The scene is from the 18th century novel by Cao Xuegin. The screen depicts beauties in the grand view garden of Daguanyuan. The panels are incised with faded color pigments that are muted from age. The reverse side depicts a stark tree branch with birds. The screen is supported by square legs ending with patinated brass feet. From an estate in San Francisco, CA.
