Monumental Chinese Carved Wooden Foo Dog Lion Temple Sculpture

Monumental Chinese Qing style foo dog or foo lion temple sculpture intricately hand-crafted from wood. The large status has an aged, weathered patina with a bleached finish. Originally the sculpture had a polychrome red finish that has faded away leaving only traces of light red pigments. Very heavy and solid with old repairs and age cracks in finish. Beautifully carved details such as scrolls and snail curls on the head. The foo dog has been a fixture in artist Ira Yeager's (American 19380-2022) art gallery recently.

Provenance: Purchased from Yager Galerie in Calistoga, CA.

Condition: Distressed, minor wear consistent with age and use. Repaired: old repairs. Beautifully crafted with age appropriate wear. Lovely distressed patina with fading, cracks, chips, losses, and old repairs as seen in photos.
