Set of Four John Hutton Bielecky Block Island Cane Dining Chairs

$7,800.00

Rare set of four "Block Island" rattan cane rush dining chairs designed by John Hutton and produced by Bielecky Brothers Queens, New York. Designed in the mid-century organic modern style. The chairs feature a large mahogany high back frame embellished with wrapped blonde cane or rush finish in a geometric grid pattern. The panels are finished in a distinctive squared basket-weave style. The iconic chairs are heavy with tightly woven cane rattan in a tidy checkered block design. The chairs are finished with loose seat cushions upholstered in a vintage green fabric with a piped ivory welt lining. The chairs are elegant and sophisticated with a warm finish and coastal style grounded in natural elements. The frames have strong, solid joinery and excellent craftsmanship. The rattan has a desirable aged patina with a slightly faded warm honey toned finish as seen in photos. The design was also produced by Donghia for John Hutton in the late 20th century. The iconic style is inspired by the mid-century modern works of Jean-Michel Frank. Sold as a set of four. Each chair is stamped by Bielecky on the bottoms.
