Martin-Baker MK2 Ejection Seat, Polished Aluminum, Mid-Century Art

$24,000.00

Rare, mid-century modern ejection seat manufactured by Martin-Baker for the royal air force. The MK2 was produced for the English Canberra jet bomber, and features a dramatic hand-polished aluminum frame with a chrome like finish. The decommissioned seat has amazing detail and most of its original control apparatus in place. Painstakingly laborious process of hand polishing the entire seat is evident on every side. The repurposed seat is now an industrial piece of mid-century art with a historical past. The chair is sturdy and solid mounted to a polished sled-style base that is produced from thick billet solid aluminum. The seat is a great conversation piece with a sculptural profile and military aesthetic. From a grand estate in San Francisco, California. The seat retains its original identification plaque with a date of 1964.
