A rare mid-century modern drop-leaf expanding "Danbury" bleached mahogany dining table designed by Tommi Parzinger (Germany 1903-1981) for Charak Furniture, Boston. The table is constructed out of bleached wheat-blonde mahogany executed in an American Mid-Century Modern style with clean lines and balanced proportions. The top is finished with softly rounded corners and a subtle faded banded geometric accent on surface. The top rests on a frieze apron with organically curved wooden accents. The base is crafted with square, tapered legs having a carved knee accent joined by a large reeded X-form stretcher. The table extends via concealed slides with patinated brass hardware, allowing three additional leaves measuring approx. 9" inches each to be inserted. The table measures a full width of 68.5" open with leaves installed, and a width of 39.5" inches when closed. The original Charak Furniture label is present under the top. Well-suited for a variety of interiors. The table has a height of 24" from the ground to apron. The original set of four matching Tommi Parzinger dining chairs, and sideboard also available from the same estate.
