Set of Six French Brutalist Razor Blade Oak Rush Dining Chairs
$8,800.00
A rare set of six beautifully crafted oak and rush mid-century modern period brutalist dining chairs attributed to Guillerme et Chambron. The renowned French mid-century interior design duo consisting of Robert Guillerme (1913–1990) and Jacques Chambron (1914–2001). The chairs feature striking carved 'razor blade' backs with pierced cut-outs flanked by carved side posts in the style and manner of Danish architect Henning Kjaernulf (Danish 1911-1975). The frames have subtle curved horn shaped finials on the tops. The organic modern rush seat is crafted in a geometric chevron pattern and set within a curved oak apron. The undulating legs are joined by a curved side stretcher and central spindle, creating an H-stretcher support. The oak frame is finished with a warm honeyed tone with a lightly aged patina, pairing well with the natural wheat-tone rush. The frames are strong with solid joinery and excellent craftsmanship. Crafted in a distinct blend of Mid-Century Modern, Brutalist, Danish Modern, and rustic French Provincial styles, the chairs are well-suited for a variety of classic and contemporary spaces. Robert Guillerme and Jacques Chambron were known for robust, artisanal oak furniture they designed and produced for the company Votre Maison they co-created in Lille, France. Sold as a set of six. The chairs are located in our Northern California warehouse ready for delivery and installation.
