Important set of eight George III style English Gainsborough armchairs from the Robert A. Day (American 1943-2023) W.M Keck Foundation estate in Los Angeles, CA. Bespoke set of library armchairs crafted by Kindle Furniture circa 1983. The stately chairs retain the original order tags and trust company stamps. The large mahogany frames feature a classic flat back with an arched crest rail. The generous seat has padded arms measuring 25.5 inches high with gracefully curved arm supports. The frames are upholstered with opulent smooth leather hides in an English Oxford green color. The leather is bordered with patinated brass tack nail heads. The chairs are made on a grand scale with a classic English profile. Heavy and solid with excellent joinery and craftsmanship. Very good, well preserved condition. The leather is soft and supple with visible creases, but no rips, tears, or losses. Sold as a set of eight. Could also serve as dining chairs.
