Impressive 20th century Chinese export six-panel coromandel screen featuring a carved soapstone flora and fauna treed landscape screen. Each panel is 16 inches wide lacquered, and decorated with parcel gilt borders and intricately carved, colorful soapstone pieces. The serene scene depicts exotic birds and blooming flowers. Each panel has a windowed bottom depicting scholars items in delicately carved soapstone. The screen is supported by square legs ending with patinated brass clad feet. The screen has a desirable aged patina on the lacquer finish with chips and scuffs commensurating its age and use. The reverse side depicts parcel gilt flora and fauna scenes in windows.
