Josef Hoffmann for Wittmann Leather Kubus Armchair Vienna Secession
$6,800.00
Rare labeled leather Kubus armchair, club chair, or lounge chair designed in 1910 by Austrian Vienna Secession designer Josef Hoffmann (1870-1956 Austria). Manufactured by Wittmann in Vienna, late 20th century. Iconic design featuring geometrical quilted squares of cognac or saddle-toned leather applied to a beechwood frame creating a modern cubist form. The leather is soft and pliable with fine craquelure as expected mostly on the arms. Supported by square ebonized block legs terminating in silver spherical half moon feet. The design blends Modernist, European, and Viennese secessionist styles, making the chair suitable for a variety of interiors. The chair features a Hoffman/Wittmann Austria manufacturer plaque on the bottom of the chair.
