Fauteuil a la Reine avec Oreilles Painted Wingback Chair by Ira Yeager

$8,800.00

Whimsical country French provincial wingback armchair or Fauteuil a La Reine a Oreilles by artist Ira Yeager (American 1938-2022). The extra large size Queen's chair or chair-and-a-half is lacquered grey with an intentionally aged patina. The sinuous frame has distinctive wave or shark fin shaped ears or wings and a peaked crest back. The generous seat has wide, open arms conjoined to a leather covered seat in a fantastic citron yellow color. The chair back and wings have a zebra striped hide and the entire chair is bordered with brass tack nail heads with a nickel finish. The seat features a painted bust of a Frenchman with a noble hat. The painted face has mesmerizing eyes and is classic Yeager French provincial style. The seat has a serpentine apron and is supported by cabriole style legs. This chair was one of Ira's favorite creations for his gallery. Ira loved to paint French and Swedish period furniture to be seen along side his french art.
