Imposing 19th century French Louis XIII style library chair or throne chair crafted from walnut. The grand chair features a square flat back and generous square seat which are both deeply padded. The armchair has flat wide arms measuring 29 inches high and supported by turned supports. The frame is covered with a khaki colored leather that is soft and pliable but shows age on the patina. The leather is bordered with brass tack nail heads. The seat is supported by turned legs with blocks conjoined by turned stretchers. The walnut has a worn patina with old repairs and peg joinery. This library chair was used for staging in artist Ira Yeager's art gallerie in Calistoga, CA. Ira loved displaying 18-19th century period French antiques with his provincial inspired art work.
