Rose Tarlow Scalloped Coffee Table Chinoiserie Lacquered
$9,800.00
A spectacular bespoke Chinoiserie decorated coffee or cocktail table by Rose Tarlow - Melrose House, Los Angeles, California. The scalloped coffee table was custom ordered in a larger size measuring nearly 4 feet long. The elegant table features a refined hand-painted gilt chinoiserie landscape on a lustrous ebonized black lacquer ground. The elaborately shaped top features a dramatically scalloped and lobbed perimeter with deep semicircular recesses at corners and along each side. The top presents a hand-finished Chinoiserie landscape in meticulous gilt detail over a deep ebonized and lacquered ground. The scene depicts a pagoda, a stylized scholar's rock, a stag amid tall grasses, trees, and natural foliage, all crafted in raised relief with vivid accents rising above the flat top with a subtle galleried edge. The deeply modeled apron repeats the scalloped profile of the top and is covered in fine gilt lattice and trellis patterns. Four boldly shaped cabriole legs with pad feet support the top, each ornamented at the knee with a gilt cartouche. The bespoke piece has excellent joinery and craftsmanship in exceptional condition. Original Rose Tarlow plaque is attached underneath. From an estate in San Francisco, CA.
