Pair of Louis XVI Style Walnut Carved Beds with Toile


Remarkable pair of French walnut hand-carved beds featuring blue and white toile upholstery. Crafted in the grand neoclassical Louis XVI taste by Bardie in the Bordeaux region of France with makers branding stamp. The headboard and footboard have a gracefully curved crest with tapered, fluted column sides topped with an acorn finial. The columns are decorated with acanthus leaves and corners of the beds are decorated with intricate carved rosettes. The beds are supported by tapered, fluted Louis XVI legs. The interior mattress dimensions correspond with a twin mattress size. Approximately 77 inches long and 39.5 inches wide. The carved side rails are 10 inches high on each side. The footboard is 37 inches high and the headboard is 51 inches high. The beds have excellent joinery and craftsmanship and are in exceptional condition. Sold as a pair.
