Pair of 19th Century Country French Provincial Walnut Bergere Armchairs

Distinctive restored pair of 19th century country French provincial Bergere armchairs crafted from walnut. Nearly identical made in a his and hers style with one chair being 2 inches taller on the back and having a larger floral crest on top. The gracefully curved back features an open exposed rear side. The generous seat is fitted with a loose, deep seat cushion and has a serpentine apron. Upholstered with a whimsical striped rayon or silk style fabric with a lovely sheen bordered by brass tack nail heads. Fully restored in 2000 from the estate of Philip Fowler, Bel Air, CA. Excellent joinery and craftsmanship with a lovely aged patina on the walnut finish.
