Impressive pair of oversized rattan lounge or club chairs designed by John Hutton for Donghia in the late 20th century. From Donghia's Merbau collection featuring large mahogany frames wrapped with blonde rattan cane in the California coastal organic modern style. The deep seats have fitted loose seat cushions and long cylindrical mahogany arm rails with a rich finish measuring 24 inches high. The box form frame has a dramatic low profile with fantastic geometric cane patterns on the sides, backs, and interior. The deep cushions while being vintage are very presentable and still show well. The large chairs are heavy, and sturdy with excellent joinery and craftsmanship. The pair are in exceptional condition as seen in photos. Each chair has a makers brand on bottom. Sold as a pair includes seat cushions.
