Mario Bellini "Camaleonda" Boucle Sofa by B&B Italia Set of 5

$28,000.00

A rare monumental five-piece "Camaleonda" boucle modular sectional sofa, designed by Mario Bellini and made by B&B Italia in Novedrate, Como, Italy. The sofa is comprised of three back and seat modules. Two of the rare corners, and one back, and two backless ottoman seats. Shown as configured here in a U-shaped sectional. Each modular piece is freestanding, connecting to the others via hooks and clips, allowing the pieces to be moved and reconfigured in numerous different combinations. Each piece is upholstered in a plush, cream-colored wool bouclé fabric with tufted accents over the organic, bubble-form of the sofa. The pieces rest atop black lacquered wood plinth bases with small rounded ball feet, giving the sofa a floating effect. The sofa is in original very good, well-preserved condition given age and use. The wool boucle upholstery is free from rips, losses, and tears with a lightly aged patina on the finish as expected. The vintage fabric shows well and is very presentable. One of the most recognizable designs of Italian Postwar furniture, the "Camaleonda" line remains in production today starting at prices above $20,000. The stunning sofa is crafted in a late Mid-Century Modern style with an iconic bubble form and modular construction, and is well-suited for a variety of spaces. C&B Italia (now B&B Italia) manufacturer's label circa 1970's is located on the underside of the sofa. Each sofa piece measures 36" wide and deep, while the ottoman pieces measure 36" wide and 24" deep. Listed measurements of sofa are as depicted in images, the measurements can vary based on arrangement. From an estate in Beverly Hills, CA. Sold as a set of five pieces.
