Mah Jong Sofa Missoni Fabrics by Hans Hopfer Roche Bobois 21st C

$24,000.00

A rare and iconic 21st century Roche Bobois 'Mah Jong' modular sectional sofa designed in 1971 by Hans Hopfer (Germany b. 1931). The sofa is a "Composition Missoni" featuring dramatic floral print fabrics, and jeweled gemstone prints seldom seen on Mah Jong pillows and of course vibrant zig-zag weaves Missoni is famous for. Designed in France and hand-made in Italy, the set consists of eight total elements or pieces, five square seat cushions and three back cushions, offering infinite design possibilities in a chic mosaic of color, tapestry, texture, and design. Each authentic cushion is entirely constructed and sewn by hand in a dedicated workshop in Italy with attached Roche Bobois and Missoni tags. The upholstery showcases five distinct Missoni Home fabrics: an olive chartreuse herringbone chenille, a deep mustard gold herringbone chenille, a deep purple ground with bold orange and white oversized florals, a classic woven and chevroned multicolor vertical striped fabric in pink, orange, blue, lavender and green, a multicolor horizontal zigzag/chevron knit in teal, gold, lavender and rose, and an exuberant abstract mosaic print in red, orange, teal and lavender toned jewels and gemstones. Measurements are taken as shown in image number 1. Each square cushion measures approximately 38" wide and deep. The set is in exceptional, well preserved near new condition as seen in photos with crisp, clean, and vibrant colored fabric. The set also includes extra new replacement buttons with matching fabric from when the sofa was purchased. Sold as a set of eight pieces. The sofa is located in our Northern California, US warehouse ready for delivery and installation.
