Karl Springer-Style Organic Modern Grasscloth Waterfall Desk

$4,800.00

A stylish and iconic mid-century modern two-drawer waterfall form desk constructed out of oak and woven grasscloth in the manner and style of Karl Springer. The desk features a hand-woven raffia style grasscloth surface, laid in a geometric diamond pattern in tones of amber and chestnut, sealed under a glossy lacquer finish. The desk is crafted with a broad rectangular top as part of a continuous curved plane in the distinct "Waterfall" silhouette. The apron contains two full-width frieze drawers, each discreetly set into the frame above the open kneehole and set upon smooth metal glides. The entire piece is clad in the decorative grasscloth finish, pairing an organic modern surface with a modern silhouette in the style and manner of designer Karl Springer (Germany, 1931-1991). The case has sturdy and solid joinery and craftsmanship in exceptional condition as seen in photos. The piece is well-suited for Mid-Century Modern, Organic Modern, Palm Beach, Hollywood Regency, or Coastal interiors as a writing table, desk, vanity, console, or side table. From an estate in Hollywood, CA.
