Fascinating Japanese 19th century meiji period two panel folding byobu screen. The screen features flowering autumn plants and grasses: chrysanthemum, brush clover, Chinese bellflower, rose of sharon, pampas grass, wild pinks, and daisies. The delicate flowers are painted on patinated silver leaf squares with a dark faded finish. The patinated finish gives the screen a moody intrigue. The screen has an aged patina with losses as seen in photos to commensurate age and use. From an estate in San Francisco, California. Crafted in the Nihonga school style.
