Grand French Neoclassical Marble Top Library or Console Table

$7,800.00

Opulent 19th century French walnut library table or console table made on a grand scale. The table features a carved walnut frame crafted in the Louis XVI neoclassical taste with Napoleonic empire design inspiration. The frame is thick, heavy, and solid topped with a massive slab of Breccia style marble. The creamy beige marble has fascinating natural veining and old repairs as seen in photos. The frame has neoclassical carved rosettes on the corners and a central foliate swag motif panel in the center of the frieze. The apron is decorated with incised parcel gilt accents and borders. The table is supported by elegant tapered square legs ending with toupie feet. The walnut has a desirable distressed, aged patina with natural age and prior insect holes. The table is heavy and solid and the marble has a hand-chiseled textured finish on the bottom side. From a grand estate in the Napa Valley, CA.
