French Neoclassical Directoire Style Iron Sleigh-Form Daybed

An elegant and whimsical 20th century painted iron daybed crafted in a French Neoclassical Directoire style. The piece is constructed in a gracefully curved sleigh-form, with each end terminating in dramatic tightly scrolled volute ends. The side are completed with a crossed X-form stretcher between the verticals. The daybed sits on elaborately shaped baluster-form legs. The iron has been hand-painted in a taupe gray finish with visible brushstrokes having an intentionally weathered finish to mimic age. The bottom of the frame contains a sprung wire support deck, and is fitted with a broad white seat cushion and two pale blue velvet bolster pillows. Crafted in a modern stylized French Neoclassical design with Directoire and Continental influences having a beautifully weathered finish. The daybed is well suited for use as a daybed, couch, or bed frame in a variety of interiors. From an estate in San Francisco, CA. Cushion is newly upholstered.
