An elegant walnut and cane fauteuil armchair crafted in the grand French Louis XVI style. The distinctive chair features a hand-carved walnut frame executed with a shield-form back, open arms, and curved seat front. The ornate frame is accented with a carved bouquet on the crest rail flanked by a band of carved ribbon twist decoration leading down the arms and across the seat rail. The front corner blocks are decorated with carved rosettes above turned, fluted, and tapered legs ending in small toupie feet. The back and seat are finished with an open woven cane framed by carved surrounds. The seat is topped by a rich magenta velvet loose seat cushion. The frame is sturdy with solid joinery and detailed craftsmanship. The walnut has a beautifully aged authentic patina on the warm finish. The chair is crafted in a classical Louis XVI style after 18th Century Parisian menuisiers, and is well-suited for a variety of classic and contemporary spaces.
