Enrique Garcel Modern Tessellated Bone Waterfall Writing Desk

$6,800.00

A stunning, and rare modern waterfall writing desk designed by Enrique Garcel for Jimeco. The design crafted after the mid-century modern style of Karl Springer (1931-1991) who loved using exotic materials for his pieces. The opulent desk features a creamy smooth veneer constructed of Colombian tessellated bone pieces. The bone is painstakingly hand-laid in a warm ivory or parchment palette veneer resulting in a beautiful geometric herringbone style pattern. The wood case is clad in a field of small rectangular tesserae arranged in a grid, producing a luminous, textural surface. The desk is constructed in a refined modern waterfall silhouette softened by subtly arched legs. Two discreet half-length drawers with matching cream interiors are integrated into the apron of the desk, maintaining the uninterrupted lines while offering storage space. The design blends Modern and Organic styles, similar to other Mid-Century works by Karl Springer and adjacent designers. "Made in Colombia by Jimeco Ltda, Bogotá" label underneath the desk. The desk has approximately 25.5" of ample leg room underneath for use as a desk. The desk is sturdy and solid having excellent joinery and craftsmanship in exceptional condition. From an estate in San Francisco, CA.
