English Coalbrookdale Style Cast Gothic Revival Garden Bench

A dramatic sculptural two-seat garden bench made out of cast aluminum and iron in the English Gothic Coalbrookdale foundry taste. The piece features an elaborate back, sides, and seat made up of a pierced geometric quatrefoil design. The back is anchored by a row of slender Gothic Lancet spindles surrounded by bands of repeating quatrefoils, echoing the designs of ecclesiastical windows. The gently curved arms are fitted with radiating pierced cutout galleries centered on a quatrefoil. The seat of the bench is constructed with tight honeycomb hexagonal pattern set above an apron carrying a further band of quatrefoil tracery. The bench is raised on shaped, gently arched cabriole-style front legs joined by cross-stretchers and ending in small pad feet. The frame is heavy with solid joinery and an aged patina on the cast finish. The bench is finished entirely in a deep glossy black with a matte seat. The bench is crafted in an iconic Coalbrookdale foundry silhouette having a Gothic Revival style, well-suited for use in a garden, terrace, porch, or patio.
