An elegant gilded iron and lacquered tray cocktail or coffee table by designed by Dennis & Leen, Los Angeles, California. The Dennis and Leen "Shaped Chinoiserie Tray Table" (Model# DL-TB10) is comprised of a removable tray top with shaped edges and hand-painted surface over a faux bois twig gilt iron trestle base. The tray top presents a dramatic serpentine silhouette with a finely reeded and beaded gilt iron galleried edge surrounding a lustrous black lacquer surface adorned with hand-painted chinoiserie motif decoration. The surface is painted with continuous garlands of florals, ribbons, and scrolling foliage in warm amber gilt tones winding around the perimeter in a richly lacquered and reflective japanned finish. The cast iron base is made up of eight splayed legs conjoined by a bold cross-stretcher system, creating a graceful geometric composition of interlaced forms, all finished in a meticulous antiqued gilt faux bois finish depicting bark, knots, and wood grain. The legs shoot upwards and conclude above the table's surface in decorative angled finial posts. The table is sturdy and strong with excellent joinery and construction in exceptional condition. Crafted in an elegant blend of Chinoiserie and Hollywood Regency style, the table is functional as a tray, cocktail, coffee, accent, or tea table, and is well-suited for a variety of interiors.
