20th Century Turkish Arts and Crafts Donegal Style Rug 18' X 12'
$18,000.00
Monumental 20th century Turkish Oushak rug made in the Irish decorative arts and crafts donegal style of Gavin Morton. This stunning and large rug measures 17.8 feet wide by 12 feet deep with a dramatic emerald green ground of thick, plush wool. Crafted with vibrant natural rare color dyes that have gently faded into a lovely aged patina. The rug has a soft thick wool pile with intentional striation lines to subtly mimic 19th century age and abrash over the green and khaki fields. The field is decorated by pink palmettes and teal floral stylized rosettes with delicate floral spray borders. Reminiscent to British 19th century arts and crafts designs inspired by the carpets of William Morris/Voysey in the decorative arts style. Classic rug that is well suited for several styles as traditional, craftsman, bungalow, colonial, farmhouse, modern, boho, art nouveau, cabin, and rustic. From an estate in San Francisco, CA. Very impressive rug with desirable gently aged patina crafted on a grand scale.
