A charming 19th century English Georgian dessert, side, or occasional table constructed with a tripod base and a tilt-top mechanism. The table features a beautifully painted top depicting framed vignettes of coastal landscapes, buildings, and ships in tones of ochre, charcoal, and burgundy, surrounded by scrolling red foliage over a beautifully distressed ground of burnt sienna. The top is supported by a turned baluster column fitted with an iron catch tilt-top mechanism. The table sits atop a three-legged tripod base ending on gracefully arched cabriole legs with broad pad feet. The underside has retained its natural unfinished woodgrain and a chalk inscription reading "DEVON", likely the place of origin. The table has an authentic weathered, and distressed patina as seen in photos with fair joinery. Crafted in an English Georgian style, the table is well-suited for use as a decorative side table, occasional table, or display stand in a variety of interiors. From an estate in the Napa Valley, CA.
