Pair of English Coalbrookdale Style Gothic Iron Garden Benches

$8,800.00

A dramatic pair of cast iron garden benches crafted in the English Gothic Revival Coalbrookdale foundry style. The distinctive pair features elaborate backs made up of a lively pierced geometric quatrefoil design. The backs are constructed with rows of alternating quatrefoils and arrows having jagged thorn-like crockets inside. The sweeping arms have interior galleries fitted with naturalistic branches, scrolling, leaves, and tendrils. The seats of the benches are made with a tight honeycomb hexagonal pattern set above an apron carrying a band of cusped Gothic ribbons. The benches are raised on branch-form swooping legs ending in large hoof feet. The pair is finished entirely in a deep matte charcoal black. The frames are heavy and solid with excellent joinery and craftsmanship. The patinated frames have a newer finish over the rough textured cast iron. The pair is crafted in an iconic Coalbrookdale foundry silhouette with a Gothic Revival style, well-suited for use in a garden, terrace, porch, or patio. Arms of the benches measure 24" tall. Sold as a pair.
