Extraordinary Chinese export four-panel coromandel screen featuring a pagoda pavilion landscape with a dramatic gold leaf background. The black lacquered panels are incised with vibrant color pigments depicting a courtyard with figures engaged in leisurely activities. Colorful greens and blues decorate the screen. The coromandel is supported by square legs ending with patinated brass clad feet. The opposite side features a stark landscape with bamboo and rock. The screen has a Chinese script on the upper left panel. From an estate in San Francisco, CA.
