Impressive Chinese export six-panel coromandel lacquered folding screen featuring a carved soapstone floral landscape with cranes. Each panel is 16 inches wide and embellished with an inlaid Mother of Pearl border having a floral motif and geometric gilt painted grid. The landscape scene is decorated with intricate hand-carved soapstones depicting floral, foliate, and large white cranes. The screen is supported by square legs ending with patinated brass-clad feet. The reverse side is decorated with gilt floral sprays. From an estate in San Francisco, CA.
