Rare late 19th century large American leather covered rattan basket steamer trunk manufactured by Mendel. The trunk features a rattan frame covered with leather and naugahyde having a natural linen liner inside. The outside of the trunk has handsome leather strapping in a rich cognac tone with a desirable worn patina. The front lock plate has a large patinated brass look, but no key available. Perfect as a blanket chest or storage. From an estate in Napa Valley, CA
