Set of Eight Michael Taylor Style Rattan Leather Dining Chairs
$12,500.00
A substantial suite of eight gorgeous rattan and wicker armchairs from the estate of late California Senator Dianne Feinstein (1933-2023) San Fransisco, CA. The bespoke chairs appear to be from "The Wicker Works" crafted in Italy in the manner and style of Michael Taylor design circa 1980's. The chairs feature a dramatic enveloping, high-back silhouette and a thick hand-braided rattan border tracing the crest, arms, and seat. The frames are constructed in a light honey toned rattan accentuated by the later added upholstery in a butter soft leather by Belmar in San Fransisco, CA. Each chair is constructed with a pole rattan frame wrapped with a tightly woven wicker exterior and a flared skirted base giving the chairs a subtle hourglass profile. The interiors are fully upholstered in a warm parchment or sand toned leather, and include a thick fitted loose seat cushion. Below the seat, an open stretcher area with woven paneling provides visual lightness and openness. The chairs read equally well as California Coastal, Palm Beach, Organic Modern, or Tropical styles. The arms measure 25.5" high. The chairs are very comfortable and supportive. The frames are sturdy with solid joinery. The rattan and leather have an aged patina as seen in photos commensurate age and use. Sold as a set of eight chairs. Stylish chairs with an interesting provenance.
